I was blown away by your presentation!
— K.L.

Rob Hoover’s fascination with magic began with his father, who performed magic shows as a hobby. Rob performed his first trick for an audience at age six and, by the time he was eleven or twelve, was presenting his own shows at birthday parties, family gatherings, and local events. Growing up in a family with interests in magic, juggling, clowning, and balloon twisting made performing a regular part of life. While other kids were getting video games and Transformers for Christmas, Rob occasionally found things like a straitjacket or a guillotine under the tree.

Rob later studied theatre in college, an experience that continues to influence the way he approaches performance. His early interest in comedy magic gradually expanded into mind reading and other forms of theatrical magic, along with interests in folklore, superstition, unusual history, and the unexplained.

Since 2014, Rob has devoted increasing time to creating and performing magic. His theatre background continues to shape the way he builds a show, from the pacing and presentation of an individual effect to the relationship between performer and audience. Whatever the setting, Rob’s goal is to create a performance that feels personal, entertaining, and a little different from what audiences may expect from a magic show.
